Mexican Currency

We recommend that you bring Traveler's Cheques. The best rate of exchange is at the banks. Bank cards can also be used at ATM Machines to obtain cash at the current exchange rate. However, we don't recommend that you count on them exclusively for access to money.

Banking in Ixtapa

Banking in Ixtapa can be done at the Bancomer in the Portal complex or HSBC beside Doroado Pacifico. You'll be able to exchange money at a reasonable rate. You will need your driver's license as ID.

Bancomer

Hours of the bank are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Telephone: 305-64.

HSBC

Is a good bank with 2 ATMs that we've never seen out of service.

Banking in Zihatanejo

Banco Nacional de Mexico or (Banamex) is open from
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday to Friday. Try and stay away from exchange booths, lines are shorter but you will get 3 to 5 per cent less on your exchange.

You can use bank machines to withdraw from your account at current exchange rates. American Express has a branch at the Westin Brisas, for cardmembers; they provide full money services. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday
